The Paiche


It is the second world's biggest freshwater fish.

In its natural environment, can grow to over three meters and weigh about 200 kg.

It has a light brown on the back and comes to be slightly reddish - Orange spots laterally. It is white on the ventral region.

Its flesh is white and firm, being highly regarded for its excellent flavor.

Due to overfishing today is a protected species (FAO), and there are closed seasons for its capture. For this reason, aquaculture becomes more important for the protection of this species.
